Quick-Type is a family run business established by Marie-Françoise Ferrière since 1988. Marie-Françoise first
started with a conventional FACIT Typewriter and has since moved on to using the latest laptops and
Microsoft Office software. Growing in size and reputation, her two daughters Mélanie and Caroline joined the
business in 2005 and 2009 respectively.

With over 30 years in the corporate administrative, secretarial and typing industry our professional typists are
highly skilled, fast, affordable and discreet. Having a powerfully written and well-presented CV clearly gives

HISTORY AND SKILLS

MARIE-FRANÇOISE

Owner and Senior Typist

In 1982 Marie-Françoise completed her studies as a professional typist and
passed her Pitman’s Typing and Secretarial exams with flying colours. She worked
as a personal secretary for Fapcom Pty Ltd in Mauritius before she eventually
immigrated to South Africa from Mauritius with her husband Dominique Ferrière,
in April 1982.

Marie-Françoise gained her South-African citizenship in August 1982 and started
working for Thomas Cook Rennies Travel as a Tourist Cashier and then moved on
to work for General Accident as a professional typist in the Typing Pool in 1984.

Since then Marie-Françoise's humble business, Quick-Type, has made leaps and bounds. She’s worked with
doctors, estate agents, teachers, principals and even done typing work for the UN (United Nations).
Her two daughters, Melanie and Caroline are now working at her side, and offer their own, unique expertise. This family business composes of strong business and ethical morals, especially when dealing with clients sensitive and confidential documents.

CAROLINE

Typist & Microsoft Office Trainer

Caroline finished high school in 2007, and did her training & qualifications in
ICDL with distinction. Immediately she was offered a position as an IT Trainer
at the very same training institute (eDICT) and trained there for 18 months as a
Registered ICDL Trainer. Her employer started downsizing the business in 2009,
and Caroline took this opportunity to start her own IT Training Centre called
Freelance Media Computer Training. She is also in partnership with
Marie-Françoise of Quick-Type bringing her own expertise in the Microsoft Word
and Excel software applications to the business.

MÉLANIE

Typist, Graphic/Website Designer & CorelDRAW Trainer

After Melanie finished high school in 2004, she did her training & qualifications in
ICDL, CorelDRAW and Website Design. She followed in her parent’s footsteps,
by starting her own graphic design business called Magnificent Design.
10 years later her business is a thriving success and she opened (with Caroline)
a Training Centre in Ridge Road where she teaches CorelDRAW Graphic Design.
Melanie now works side by side with Marie-Françoise to embellish any typing work
which requires a graphic design aspect.
